The Lehigh Valley Road Runners proudly recognized five exceptional student-athletes during the 2026 Scholarship Awards Presentation, continuing the club’s long-standing commitment to supporting youth running and academic achievement. This year’s scholarship program attracted 25 applicants from 13 high schools across the greater Lehigh Valley, showcasing an impressive group of students who demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service. Notably, applicants represented a wide range of future career paths, with 42% planning to pursue studies in the sciences, 21% in healthcare, and 17% in engineering. 

Funded through LVRR races and club fundraising efforts, the LVRR scholarship program was established to foster interest in running and reward student-athletes who exemplify dedication both on and off the course. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, athletic participation, community involvement, leadership, recommendations, and an essay describing the impact running has had on their lives. 

2026 LVRR Scholarship Recipients

William Haring

Allentown Central Catholic High School
Widener University – Mechanical Engineering

A three-sport athlete in cross country, track & field, and swimming, William distinguished himself through athletic excellence, academic success, and extensive community service. His accomplishments include winning the District XI “Distance Trifecta” with individual championships in cross country, the 1600m, and the 3200m. He also earned Central Catholic’s Male Athlete of the Year honors and served his community through volunteer work, tutoring, and leadership within his church. 

Madelyn McCartney

Emmaus High School
University of Kentucky – Health Sciences

One of the most accomplished distance runners in Emmaus High School history, Madelyn has broken every school distance record and became the first individual XC state champion in school history. A team captain, LVRR volunteer, and longtime member of the Pinnacle Racing Team, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the running community. 

Kaley Seide

Parkland High School
Rider University – Health Sciences (Pre-Physician Assistant Track)

An eight-time school record holder and PIAA State Champion, Kaley excelled in both academics and athletics while serving as President of the Black Student Union, participating in mission work, and volunteering throughout her community. Her achievements include multiple District XI championships, state medals, and school records in both sprint and field events. 

Jeffrey Sunderlin

Wilson Area High School
Wesleyan University – Engineering or Theater/Film Production

A four-sport athlete and student leader, Jeffrey balanced success in cross country, track & field, soccer, academics, and the performing arts. His leadership helped guide Wilson Area to its first-ever District Championship in cross country, and he served as Class President, National Honor Society Vice President, and President of the Student Advisory Council. 

2026 Trailblazer Scholarship Recipient

Established in 2024 during the 30th anniversary of the LVRR clubhouse in Lehigh Parkway, the Trailblazer Scholarship supports first-generation college-bound student-athletes from the Allentown School District. The scholarship promotes participation in cross country and track & field while helping students continue their education after high school. 

Aniya Holder

Louis E. Dieruff High School
University of Iowa – Exercise Science

Aniya earned the 2026 Trailblazer Scholarship through her outstanding accomplishments in track & field and her commitment to leadership and service. A seven-time school record holder and District Champion, she was also a basketball player and youth basketball coach. Her determination, competitive spirit, and dedication to her teammates exemplify the goals of the Trailblazer Scholarship program.

The LVRR Scholarship Fund continues to reflect the club’s mission of encouraging healthy, productive, and disciplined lifestyles among young people while supporting future leaders in our communities. This year’s recipients embody the values of perseverance, integrity, community involvement, and a lifelong passion for running.
