Each year, the St. Luke’s Youth Run committee hosts a contest for local schools. The top three schools in attendance based on the number of children from that particular school that run on race day earn a financial award to be used for their respective athletic programs.
The financial awards are $750 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place. It’s an incentive for schools to encourage their students to participate in healthy activities and an opportunity for Lehigh Valley Road Runners to introduce children to the sport of running.
This year’s recipients were:
1st place – St. Thomas More (pictured above)
2nd place – St. Elizabeth Regional
3rd place – St. Michael the Archangel
The St. Luke’s Youth Run takes place each year during the St. Luke’s Half Marathon weekend. Next year’s race will be held on April 27, 2024.
LVRR also offers five opportunities for young runners to compete and have fun at their Kids Series. The dates for this year’s events are May 20, June 10 and 24, July 15, and August 5. All youth events are free and open to any child who wishes to participate. All athletes must be pre-registered via online registration.
