Club History
The purpose of the Lehigh Valley Road Runners is to develop and promote distance running and racing in the greater Lehigh Valley area, to provide information and social activities, and to enhance training opportunities in a supportive atmosphere for all runners of all abilities.
The LVRR was formed in 1993 by the merger of the Lehigh Valley Athletic Association and the Emmaus Road Runners, two long-established local running organizations. The merger of the two clubs has resulted in a unified regional running club of over 400 members who participate and volunteer at club races and events. The LVRR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a chapter member of the Road Runners Club of America, a nationwide governing body for recreational running clubs.
Our Clubhouse
In 1994 the LVRR found a home of its own. That year, the club accepted an offer from the City of Allentown to renovate and occupy a 19th-century farmhouse located in Allentown’s beautiful Lehigh Parkway. Given the large number of runners who use the Parkway as a training venue, it was a natural fit for the LVRR to establish a clubhouse at this location. Through the volunteer efforts of club members, extensive renovations were completed late that year and the clubhouse became fully functional as a meeting place and center of club activities.
Within Lehigh Parkway are approximately 15 kilometers of trails for running. Its main pathway along Little Lehigh Creek is the site of several races, including the LVRR 5k Summer Series.
