Hurricane Isaias wreaked havoc in the Lehigh Valley last week, including our little nook of the woods in Lehigh Parkway. The clubhouse took on a good two feet of water on the ground floor, as well as approximately three feet of water in the kitchen. The basement still has water in it and with each rainstorm passing through it means it takes longer for our beloved clubhouse to dry out.
We had to get rid of several items, including race signage, Gatorade, and other items of such. We put out a last-minute call to club members on Friday for a Saturday cleanup of the grounds and first floor of the house. Thank you, to everyone who heeded the call and came to lend a hand. Much scrubbing of walls, cabinets, picnic tables (at least three floated away and haven’t been seen since), race flagging, garbage cans, etc. Three hours of hard work inside and out and our home is now in much better shape. This is on top of the hours of work that our dedicated lifelong members put in earlier in the week: Thank you, Neal, Lloyd, Brian, Jack, and Elaine!
We purchased a humidifier to replace one damaged in the flooding. Some of the floorboards inside the house have buckled and will need to be repaired. We have humidifiers and fans running to dry out the wet flooring in the living room. As things dry out we will be better able to assess what repairs will likely be needed in the months ahead.
Crazily, this is not the highest that flood waters have peaked at the clubhouse. Waters rose to about 4-6 lower than our highest peak.
Thank you, again, for all the continued help in maintaining our home inside Lehigh Parkway.
