Please join LVRR in helping our less fortunate friends and neighbors in the Lehigh Valley enjoy this holiday season as part of this year’s Volunteer Center Holiday Hope Chest program! Holiday Hope Chests, a program which began over 18 years ago, is designed to engage our community to provide for children in need served by local nonprofit organizations. The program started small and has expanded into a community-wide opportunity for businesses, social clubs, troops, schools and families to participate. This year, nonprofits are requesting over 10,000 boxes! Please join LVRR in helping the Volunteer Center meet this most ambitious goal yet! As of today, 3,000 boxes are still needed!
How can LVRR members help? It’s simple!
- Donate supplies! Empty shoeboxes, wrapping paper (holiday themed) & tape
- Collect and wrap shoeboxes (Wrap the lid and the box separately). View this video for instructions on wrapping shoeboxes with attached lids.
- Collect, wrap and fill shoeboxes. Complete the Donor Pledge form. You can indicate which age and gender groups you would like or be assigned them to you based on the need. You will receive an email confirmation of your pledge that has a set of blank gift tags. Purchase items for your boxes (please no food or candy). Refer to list of suggested gift items by clicking here. Place items into your wrapped shoeboxes. Print, cut, fill out the gift tags, and affix them to the short side of the Holiday Hope Chest.
- Donate financially (and volunteers will do the shopping for you)
All donations must be dropped off at the LVRR clubhouse by December 5, 4:30pm. The clubhouse is open on weekdays from 3:00-4:30 pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Clubhouse will be closed on Thanksgiving. Please leave all donations on tables in the living room by back windows.
Tell your friends, family members, co-workers, club members, etc. about this program!
Thank you, in advance, for your help and donations.
