Get to Know Your Board Members

The LVRR is probably the only running club in the country that has a home base for a meeting. In 1994 the LVRR accepted an offer from the City of Allentown to renovate and occupy a 19th-century farmhouse located in the Lehigh Parkway. After renovations, a house committee was formed to oversee the general maintenance of the clubhouse. House Committee members are Lloyd Trego, Neal Novak, and Brian Patterson.

The LVRR established a Scholarship Fund to assist local high school graduates with college expenses. The LVRR is proud to issue the following 7 Scholarships: LVRR (2 male & 2 female), Tom Ilick Memorial Scholarship (2013), Ed Thompson Memorial Scholarship (1993), and Nicole Reinhart Memorial Scholarship (2001). That is a total of $22,000!

8 years (secretary, VP and now President)

Q: What have you accomplished as a Board Member?
A:
(see below)

  • Helped bring the Ice Scraper Series to the Club
  • Automated Race Day Check-in / Registration with use of Kindles (after getting tired of putting all those labels on)
  • Helped grow the Group Runs
  • Created a timing team so Brian Patterson wasn’t the only one who knew how to work the system. Now there are 5 club members, and Leah Piccone can do IT stuff.

Q: Where is your favorite place to train?
A:
I love the Lehigh Parkway as a starting and finishing point. I enjoy running in Emmaus and Allentown as well as the Game Preserve.

Q: What is your favorite hobby?
A:
I guess running. I don’t necessarily love racing but love just going out there and running forever. I get to see my friends and any issues seem to fade away. I also love PB cups and running for Emmy.

Q: What is your day job?
A:
I am a part time Dietitian for Sodexo.

Q: Any running goals for 2020?
A:
Not yet, but I would love to run a 60 miler. I just haven’t pulled the trigger on it.

Q: Any goals for the club?
A:
I love to see the smiles on racers when they cross that finish line, especially those who never thought they could do it. I want to see those people continue to strive & push and keep coming back because they love what the club brings to them. That is a community to me. I would also love to see a 6-hour race.
