Race Bandit Policy
A race bandit is any runner taking part in a race without the permission of the race directors, which can include but is not limited to joining the race field without registering or running while wearing another runner’s race bib. Lehigh Valley Road Runners has adopted the following policy in regard to runners who bandit any and all of our events:
Race bandits will be banned from all LVRR events for a period of one year. If caught wearing a bib that is not your own, both parties will be banned from all LVRR events for a period of one year.
Adverse Weather Conditions
Race Directors will assess the weather and communicate safety protocols based on the following:
Heat and Humidity – The dew point is 80F or above at the start time. This information is available on the weather channel and from your local weather service. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends canceling or modifying a road race when the WBGT is 82F.
Lightening is present. Send runners home if there is not adequate safe shelter for everyone to wait out the storm. Remember, trees are not safe shelter and lightning can strike up to 10 miles away.
Hazardous condition on course caused by ice, snow, mud, etc. Detour the race route from these areas.
Snowstorms. Many runners will want to run. Get input from local police. As mentioned above, it’s not just hazardous footing. There is significant danger from vehicles and snow removal equipment if the course is shared with traffic. Visibility and safety of volunteers should also be considered.
Extreme cold. When the combined temperature and wind chill is below 5F, there is the risk of flesh freezing and hypothermia.
