Bi-monthly report from Club President, Leslie Billowitch.
As the kids go back to school we welcome the change of season. Football, cross country, soccer and other fall sports are kicking off and cooler temperatures are creeping in. While some of us enjoy the heat of the sun and gnats swarming in our faces, others yearn for the crisp air to engulf and take their breath away. Whether you are walking, running, skipping or strolling make sure you stop to take in natures beauty as our surrounding change and be on the lookout for those ankle breaking walnuts that will soon cover the ground.
In July we awarded $24,000 to seven amazing seniors. We wish them and all of our students young and old a successful academic year.
The General Membership meeting was well attended and contained a lot of good feed back. We enjoyed hearing your comments and understand that summer schedules made it difficult for some to attend. We look forward to hosting another meeting this winter.
We are excited to wrap up our Summer 5K Series this Wednesday. Over 1,000 racers and 93 volunteers have come out for this year’s race series. We are so glad that you enjoy the series and keep coming back. The September race starts at 6:00 p.m. so please make sure you are checked in and ready to go. You may send a friend to check you in but you may not pick up a bib after 5:55 pm and we all know that we can’t race without a bib. Please don’t be a bandit and do bring something to share for the post-race potluck. We were sorry to cancel the August race but the weather outlook had us putting volunteers and early racers right in the heart of a storm.
Race committees are finalizing the details on our Winter 5K Series and Superbowl Tailgate Trot which will open soon and the Half Marathon committee is busy creating an amazing Double Half Challenge for you.
Wishing you the best,
Leslie 🙂
